You guys! I had my dream newborn session a couple weeks ago with Baby Levi! As soon as I saw this little guy, I was in love! That hair!!! Oh, that hair! He was every newborn photographer's dream to photograph! Levi started out his session awake so we started with family poses. A newborn will usually fall asleep during their session if Mom or Dad is holding them, so we went for it. He was awake for most of his family session portion, but we still managed to capture some beautiful images.
After a quick feeding, Levi decided he was ready to sleep and barely made a peep the rest of the session. Like most people in this great state of Nebraska, Levi's dad is a big Husker fan, so he wanted to incorporate a picture with his favorite football hat.
After we did a few poses in that little bucket, we moved on to the bean bag which is where I photographed the majority of the session.
Levi's nursery is decorated in buffalo plaid, so I found an adorable sleepy cap that was just perfect for him.
The next portion of the session, I was so excited I could barely contain myself. Levi woke up for a brief moment, but shortly fell back asleep. He had given me a couple little smiles already during our session together, so I had a feeling he would give me another one. I have learned a few tricks along the way as a newborn photographer, and one of them is that if the baby is going to give you a smile, it is usually going to be within five minutes of them falling asleep. I always watch their chest, and when they start taking deep breaths, that is usually when the magic happens. The baby's eyes will start to flutter, and maybe, just maybe, they will give you a great big smile like this one!
We finished off his portraits with one more prop setup since he was sleeping so well. I love that olive green with his complexion.
I know I probably sound like a broken record by now, but I absolutely love photographing newborns, and Levi was no exception. Thank you so much for letting me photograph such a handsome little guy! I hope I get the opportunity to watch him grow and document other milestones for him!
Are you thinking about scheduling a newborn portrait session for your little one? I usually suggest booking your session in your second trimester or early third trimester to guarantee availability around your due date, since I photograph newborns between five to fourteen days after delivery. However, I also take last minute sessions too if my schedule allows it. Please contact me today if you are interested. I would love to chat with you!
