Six weeks ago, I attended a workshop in Arkansas with my mentor turned friend, Claudia Aguilar with Captured by Claudia Photography. It was a day long workshop where I learned new lighting setups, posing, styling, camera settings, and so much more.
In 2018, I attended a newborn workshop with Claudia in Austin, Texas and it was career changing for me, so I knew the maternity workshop would be well worth the investment.
I already knew plenty about lighting, but Claudia took it to another level with her creative and bold use of light. We learned lighting from one basic light all the way to using four lights in our setups.
This new approach to my maternity sessions is exactly what I want to offer my clients. A way to show off their beauty while growing a miracle inside of them, with a little fashion twist thrown in there!
When I moved to my studio in downtown Norfolk last year, one of my main focuses was to be able to offer clients a unique experience with studio lighting. This workshop I attended lit a fire inside of me. It made me step out of the box from what I was comfortable with to try new things.
Not only am I able to photograph expecting mothers with a more fine art approach, but I can bring these new techniques to my senior portrait sessions, as well as, business branding or headshot sessions.
I have curated a closet of unique items specifically for my maternity clients. From edgy, to dressy, fun and flirty, I have a little bit of everything to take away the stress of planning your session.
The best time to schedule maternity portraits is around 28-32 weeks. Please message me if you would like to get scheduled. I would be honored to photograph such an important time in your life!
