Oh sweet Henry. He is, hands down, one of my favorite babies that I have ever photographed. He is such a sweet boy, and really knows how to work the camera every time he comes to the KP Photography studio in Norfolk, Nebraska. Henry is one of my Baby's First Year babies so I have photographed him three times already in his short time on Earth.
This session was a fun milestone because he is now able to sit on his own. I like to tell parents when they schedule their baby's six month session, that it does not have to actually be right at the six month mark, but rather once the baby starts sitting up on their own, which is why it is called a sitter session. Six months is usually around the time that babies start sitting on their own, but it can vary from five months to even nine months old.
Sitter sessions are one of my favorite types of sessions (right behind a newborn session) because this is the age that babies start laughing, smiling, and really starting to get a personality. This is also the age that I can coo, and make silly noises, and sing, and the children do not think I am totally crazy yet!
I encourage parents to bring two outfit changes for sure, and at this age, I always enjoy doing a naked portrait too. Nothing is cuter than a chubby little naked baby wearing a cute bonnet! The session usually lasts about one hour and if things go as smoothly as they did with Henry's session, you will get lots of different expressions and poses like the ones below!
It is hard to imagine that I will already be photographing this little guy in just a few short months when he turns one, but I look forward to seeing what he has up his sleeve for me at his next session!
